Research Seminar: Optimizing Indoor Environments for Health and Wellbeing Across the Life Course

On 10th March 2026, the Strathclyde Centre for Doctoral Training in Energy Efficient Indoor Climate Control for Optimised Health (EICCOH), in collaboration with the Strathclyde ASHRAE Student Chapter, hosted its second research seminar at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. The event welcomed more than 30 participants from academia and industry.

The programme featured technical presentations from ASHRAE student members and PhD researchers on indoor air quality, occupant behaviour, ventilation, retrofit housing, and the links between building environments and health. Invited speakers from industry and academia, including Nooku, Zircon Smart Buildings, and the University of Edinburgh, shared perspectives on real-world building performance monitoring, housing and health data, and the practical challenges of improving indoor environmental quality.

Aligned with the ASHRAE Presidential Theme “Healthy Buildings: Design for Life,” the seminar highlighted the value of interdisciplinary collaboration and student-led research in advancing healthier buildings.
